In line with the earlier pronouncement by His Royal Highness, the Kyabazinga (KING) of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, about Hygiene and Sanitation, Hope for Orphans Organization’s Executive sat and set Hygiene and Sanitation as one of the programs that must be addressed as a matter of urgency.
We realized that poor domestic hygiene and sanitation remains a major underlying cause of poor health.
We pledge to promote key hygiene practices such as hand washing with soap, using toilets, drinking safe water, food hygiene and keeping the body, clothes and beddings clean as a norm in Luuka and Busoga Sub Region.
Most families have makeshift pit latrines and bathrooms built outside in the back yard of their homes.
We feel that there is much more need to create partnerships with other stakeholders to boost the hygiene and sanitation project by supporting to organize practical trainings on how to put in place Tip-Taps in homes where one can wash hands after visiting a toilet.
The organization also hopes to solicit for funds in order to build a better and modern home with inside plumbing so as to promote good hygiene and sanitation.
