July 5was a special throwback Thursday at HOOL (Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka), because that is the anniversary of the day we found, Gift!!! One year ago we found this sweet, little boy, who had been found close to the police station, abandoned by his last known living relative, his uncle. Gift’s mother had sadly passed away in May 2017.
The day we found and accepted Gift into our Hope for Orphans program was life changing for not only Gift, but for us. It brought hope to this child who was in much need, who had been through grief we all hope no one will have to go through.
Gift came at a time when school was already in session and funding was not available, but that left more one on one time with him. We got to spend time with him and get to know him. His English was quite good for someone who had not been able to receive enough schooling yet. Gift was quick to try to help with everything, from cleaning the home to cooking a meal for us. We could hardly stop him from keeping busy. He always seems so quick to show his gratitude and love by doing many of the chores without being asked. After Gift came into our lives, the following school season one of our U.S. sponsors made it possible for Gift to return to school. He is doing wonderfully and catching up quickly! It would be difficult to put into words the love this child and the HOOL staff share. He stole our hearts and continues to impress those in his life. “
