ORPHAN PICKED FROM STREET HANDED OVER TO HOPE FOR ORPHANS ORGANIZATION-LUUKA

A 7-year-old Gift Pius Kivumbi, a born of Masaka district in Uganda has been handed over to Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka to look after him.

Kivumbi was handed over to Donald Kiirya and Tonny Tumbya who are both directors at Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka by the Ssezibwa Regional Child and Family Protection Unit (CFPU) officer ASP Agnes Ndegemo while at Lugazi Police Station in Buikwe district of Central Uganda.

While at Lugazi Police, Kivumbi now a full orphan narrated his ordeal that he was dumped at Lugazi town by his cousin brother, Jordan, from Masaka where his mother was buried after passing on in May, 2017.

Kibumbi was raised by his single mother but did not have a chance to share a father’s love who died when he was still at infant stage.

He said he was picked up by a Police officer a month ago who took him to Lugazi Police where he has been sleeping and Policemen have been providing food to him for the last one month until he was handed over to Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka.

Kivumbi further narrates that while at Police, Policemen provided him with a mattress and blanket to and has been sleeping in one of the rooms at the Police station but without a mosquito net.

He adds that he came with one shirt and one short which he has been wearing ever since he was brought to Lugazi. He also has torn shoes.

Kivumbi said he stopped in Primary Three at St. Lawrence Junior School Kasala and he has never gone back to school ever since his mother passed on.

He is being cared for at one of the foster homes of Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka.

Kivumbi asks any Good Samaritan to sponsor for his education, clothing and medication.

According to Hope for Orphans Organization –Luuka Directors, they appreciated Police’s efforts of looking after Kivumbi and were thankful after Police entrusted them with Kivumbi so that they may look after him.

The Directors also urged parents to desist from dumping their children or neglecting children in homes but instead focus to showing parental love to them for a better future.

Now with Kivumbi at Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka, the numbers of Orphans increases to 16 from 15 we have been caring for.
