I am writing today to plead with you on behalf of HOOL Director Tonny Tumbya. I have not personally been taking the time I should have been to invest in my relationships with both Tonny and Eddy who run the Luuka, Uganda Hope for Orphans Organization. Here in the U.S. we have the privilege to go about our days without even he tiniest sliver of despair that most other people around the world face. We tend to get busy ..or as you might say (( self consumed )) with our own simple and peaceful lives. I tell you this today because I feel that it is important to remind others as well as myself, how important it is to reach out to one another and love each other unconditionally. We truly never know what others may be going through.
You see, Tonny has always been an absolute pillar of courage and strength for so so long. He stumbles and makes mistakes in his own ways but he always gets back up and continues being the hero and savior that so many (children) need him to be. He does all of this without a second thought, without hesitation and with great love patience and care. He will go without care for himself …even without food for himself so he can make sure that the children don’t have to. He knows their story ..he understands their strife ..for he was once a little boy out in the world feeling all alone as well and from that despair he chose to devote his life to caring for children who needed someone in all the ways that he once did.
Tonny has had a challenging year this year due to tooth surgery earlier in the year, Covid-19 and is now facing appendicitis. It has been confirmed through testing that the pain he has been going through for some time is of grave danger to his health and well being if he is not able to get emergency surgery very soon.
I have found through time.. usually for one reason or another.. that most people are not inclined to help others financially. It is all too easy to allow ourselves to be weary and skeptical. From experience I can tell you that not once in over two years has one dollar I have given to HOOL been misused, not once. Tonny and Eddy are absolutely the most kind and honest people that I have had such a great privilege to know. We have been given proof of purchases, schooling, receipts even when they were not once expected or asked for. We have also been given unconditional love by them, love that has resonated through our own children that we will cherish forever.
Please join me in rallying around Tonny during this difficult time in his life. He has always been so strong for everyone else and I hope it can be all of our turn to be strong for him, and hopefully in turn save his life!! His life is precious, he is loved and there are so many children who need him every single day!
