“Today our family was able to have our first video chat with the children at HOOL. Our daughter Rylie wasn’t able to join us but we plan to video chat again very soon! Tonny gave us a tour of the property and was happy to show us around everything, even their well and banana trees. Our Everett ran to get a banana to show Tonny that we have bananas too, although we do not grow them here. Soon after this Everett started to puff up his cheeks and make goofy faces and all of the children watched so intently and all of a sudden were trying to copy everything he was doing. It was amazing to see that we were able to connect and laugh together regardless of the language barrier. And when Tonny pointed out that Jesse doesn’t smile very much, our Sunni grabbed his cheeks to make him smile and all of the kids began to giggle. And when Sunni went to show them one of our kitties they came running back to show us their puppy. The children also danced for us and sang to us and shared so many sweet smiles and love yous. In the short time that we have been sponsor parents to the children we have been treated as family and with so much openness and love. I couldn’t imagine a better organization. These children might be orphaned but with Tonny and Eddy there to watch over them and advocate for them and make sure they are connected with their sponsors they really know that they are loved. We only wish that all of the children could also find loving sponsor families.” Ashley Stratton ~Sponsor Family of Jessie, Fatina and Annisha 3/23/2019 MN USA
“Just about a year ago I saw a post on FB asking to sponsor a little girl. There it was, shy Mercy’s face with a sparkle in her eyes. A quick and spontaneous decision to answer this post brought so much good and light into my life. Mercy turned out to be just a wonderful girl with big dreams and even bigger smile, sweet but determined to do something with her life. A very young girl with great love of flowers, something I share with her. Along this year I also found out how two orphaned brothers, also very young, decided to take this hard path of helping so many children. Just with good will and determination they managed to organize a safe place for children and they are struggling to better their lives daily. Each challenge overcome, new one appears but they seem fearless. By changing their own lives, lives of the children and wider community and inviting unknown people to help, they also brought change into our lives. Maybe we’ll never meet, maybe we’ll never share a meal or laugh together but we’re sharing love and respect for each other and hope for children’s better future. Eddy’s and Tonny’s work is a beacon of light in a modern world lacking empathy, so insensitive to the suffering of others. Their efforts will help rise new generations of people ready to make further change.” -Mercy’s Sponsor Mom Katalina
