We recently wrote to let you all know our current goals and dreams and were so blessed to receive help with Jessie’s health! We were so happy to receive the news that he is HIV free and simply needed his ears cleaned to be able to hear us well! Thank you for your help (you know who you are!) People like you are what makes this all possible.
With that said, I will tell you what is haunting us daily: Currently in Uganda we are going through our dry season and it’s so incredibly dry, our crops have died a second time since receiving the land at the end of 2017. This leaves us in a terrible bind with our children here at the orphanage and in our foster homes. Everyone is going hungry.
It tears us apart to hear of their hunger pains and desires to eat a little to be able to study well. Their long walks to school seem even longer as they hunger. No child should have to endure these situations, yet here it is far too common. Even as we grow and receive more funding than we did in the early days of Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka, we are dealing with this issue. The funding has mostly been directed to the bigger projects by those sending (and we are beyond-words-grateful to each of them for all their help!) We hope and pray God delivers us from this issue of constant hunger as time goes on and we gain more resources. For now, though, we cry out for help! If you are able to donate even $10 it would help! We are hoping to raise $350 in total right now to get the basics for all the children we are responsible for. That should cover some rice, maize or posho, beans, and possibly a little sugar for about 40 days for all the children (that’s 24 children in total at the moment). If this is something you’re able to help with, please click here to be led to our donation page. Please help us get through this drought! Thank you and God bless!
