MOST of us cannot relate to what it is like being an orphan, but stop for a second and try to imagine it. Imagine if you or your child had to grow up without parents and possibly be left hungry and homeless. Imagine living every day wondering where your next meal would come from.
Now, imagine the profound difference you could make in just one orphan’s life if you decide to give back and make this world a better place. With your support to Hope for Orphans Organisation Luuka (HOOL), you can help us build a better future for these beneficiaries who probably will be the leaders of tomorrow.
Hope for Orphans Organisation Luuka organised a luncheon for its beneficiaries, staff and residents who stay around the orphanage in Namukubembe village in Bukanga Sub County, Luuka district in Eastern Uganda.
The luncheon was sponsored and provided by Violet Edith Biryeri, at our orphanage premises who is based in Denmark.
The children and staff of HOOL who included Brenda Nabwire and Donald Kiirya were more excited to dine with Auntie Violet and thanked her for having such a kind heart and preparing varieties of different delicacies and dishes for the children and it was so much joy at the orphanage.
The meal had a mixture of vegetable dishes, chicken, rice, Matooke, meat and fruits that were served. Drinks were also served to the kids.
Before enjoying the meal, one of the staff volunteered and blessed the food and later was served to children, staff and residents who stay close to the orphanage and thanks to Auntie Violet who had cooked enough.
After the meal, guess what! Various types of sweets were distributed to the children.
The children appreciated Auntie Violet’s efforts of bringing joy to them.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
Right here in Uganda, children go to bed hungry every night. Poverty and unemployment mean families can’t afford enough food. Together, we can reach children in need across Luuka, Uganda and Africa at large through our life-changing partnerships.
Working together is the only way to end hunger. We are still building many partnerships to pursue new and better approaches, accelerate the success of our programs, and get food and resources to those who need them most.
Hunger steals the childhoods of millions of boys and girls around the world each year. We can’t stand by and do nothing. We at HOOL choose to fight for children.
Some would say this fight is pointless. They claim poverty will never disappear. They don’t realize that each time a child escapes poverty, hunger is vanquished. Defeating hunger one child at a time — this is our rallying cry, our singular vision. Join us! Let’s change some lives together. https://hopefororphansorg.com/2018/02/18/food-for-the-hungry/
