On a Sunny and Cloudy day of August 6, 2017, Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka organized a Bible Dinner for the 16 Orphans they look after and Widows at Busala Village in Bulongo Sub County, Luuka district.
The aim of the Bible dinner as one of the activities of the organization is to bring the orphans closer to God and to also lure them to love God and express his love to their neighbours as written in the Holly Bible.
The day started with members and orphans convening under a tree shade and thereafter introductions of each member followed at about 3:00pm.
After introductions and saying an opening prayer, a one-hour praise to the Lord followed which saw staff at Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka and orphans sing praising songs to the Almighty Lord.
After the praise, a sermon was delivered by Esther Nakirya, a Vice Chairperson at Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka during another hour of worship.
During her sermon, she urged the Orphans to grow up under the fear of the Lord and to learn to serve the Lord in order to help them prosper in their daily lives.
Nakirya also urged guardians to the orphans and other Widows present to also be God fearing and always engage into praise and worship while in their homes.
She revealed to Orphans her ordeal that she is an orphan too after losing both parents adding that she used to go through a hard life engulfed in a lot of thoughts and many questions as to where she would get school fees for her education.
Nakirya further narrated that she kept on praying to God to open up her doors and God answered her prayers and one time she was called by her Auntie who took her to school and now she is a graduate with a diploma in the accounting profession.
She urged the Orphans to also exercise patience in whatever they do and show discipline while in communities.
During worship, children and widows were taken up in prayer as their eyes were visibly seen closed and humbled while praying.
She read to them Mathew 6: 19-34 of the Bible which says;
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[a] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Do not be Anxious
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?[c] 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Prior to the Praise and Worship, Tonny Tumbya, one of the directors at Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka who is also the chairperson of the organization’s executive committee, said the Bible Dinner is an activity organized at the organization to make sure that Orphans are closer to God.
Tumbya said the organization looks forward to sharing the gospel with people in various communities through organizing more Bible Dinners at a given time with an aim of looking forward to raising the children to know God and to serve him.
He called upon more good Samaritans to also support more Bible Dinner events at Hope for Orphans Organization-Luuka. https://hopefororphansorg.com/shop/bible-dinner/
JAMES 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after Orphans and Widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
There after Orphans and Widows were served with buttered bread and tea for dinner.
